Punjab government creates favourable atmosphere for investment: chief minister

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed that such a simple and transparent policy should be adopted for the promotion of investment and launching joint ventures in the province as it aimed at providing maximum facilities to the investors.
He was presiding over a meeting regarding promotion of investment and evolving a policy for joint ventures, here on Wednesday. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan, Member National Assembly Engineer Khurram Dastagir, Chairman Planning & Development, Vice Chairman Punjab Investment Board, Secretary Law, Special Secretary Finance and officers concerned were present.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that Punjab government has created a favourable atmosphere for investment in the province and also set up Punjab Investment Board for providing guidance and necessary facilities to the investors under one-roof. He said that there is a need for evolving such a transparent policy for launching joint ventures, which could ensure a high standard and speedy implementation of the projects.
He directed Chairman Planning & Development to evolve the new policy regarding joint ventures by keeping in view all aspects and also consult chambers of commerce & industry in Pakistan and aboard. He said that it should be ensured under the policy that transparency and standard are maintained in joint ventures and no compromise should be made in this regard.
He further directed that a mechanism should be developed for transparency in tendering system in the province and recommendations should be submitted to him as early as possible. Earlier, Chairman Planning & Development Javed Aslam gave outlines of the proposed policy for joint ventures. The participants of the meeting also submitted their proposals.
