18 Aug, 2011

Provincial Leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Anwar Kamal Marwat has criticised the government for not taking political parties on board regarding amendments to Frontier Crime Regulation (FCR) Act. Speaking at a news conference here on Wednesday, at Peshawar Press Club (PPC), he said that the leaders of different political parties had agreed under a platform of non-political organisation about reforms in Fata.
Anwar Marwat said that the President Asif Ali Zardari had taken all political parties into confidence regarding extension of political parities Act and financial package for the Fata, and developed consensus about it. However, he said that the political parties were not consulted about the amendments to Frontier Crime Regulation (FCR) Act. In the prevailing situation, he said the political parties are not backing the amendments.
PML-N leader said that the newly established tribunal under the amendments is totally invalid, saying that the commissioner and Grade-20 officer also proposed as members of the tribunal. Anwar Kamal explained that the political administration and commissioner have been authorised under the new amendments, which was totally wrong and void. He said that they are strongly backing the extension political parties act to Fata, but we have some reservations about the amendments to FCR Act. He stressed the need of breaking nexus of judiciary and administration.
