Civil awards in violation of merit: adjournment motion submitted in National Assembly Secretariat

Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Wednesday submitted an adjournment motion in National Assembly Secretariat against civil awards given by President Asif Ali Zardari on the eve of Independence Day allegedly in violation of merit.
According to the adjournment motion submitted at National Assembly Secretariat, signed by 13 lawmakers of the PML-N stated that President Zardari in violation of the rules conferred awards on his loyal men and Pakistan People's Party (PPP) workers to the exclusion of those who served the country selflessly.
The motion said the award giving process stood in contradiction with rules and regulations and past traditions."The entire process that has done against the rules and contrary to the past traditions, has overlooked the prestige of the national awards", said the motion.
The adjournment motion stated that the conferring of civil awards triggered concerns among the masses and demanded that National Assembly's routine proceedings of its next session should be suspended to hold a debate on the matter. Those who signed the adjournment motion include Rana Tanvee Hussain, Chaudhry Barjees Tahir, Tahira Aurangzeb, Malik Shakil Awan, Malik Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, Begum Nuzhat Sadiq, Murtaza Javed Satti, Sardar Mohammad Irfan Dogar, Rana Mehmood-ul-Hassan and others.
