Government may appoint Asif, Imtiaz as SECP Commissioners

The government is likely to appoint Muhammad Asif as Commissioner Insurance Division and Imtiaz Haider as Commissioner Securities Market Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP). It is learnt here on Thursday that Prime Minister Syed Raza Gilani has approved the names of Muhammad Asif and Imtiaz Haider as Commissioners of the SECP.
Muhammad Asif has ample experience in working in the insurance sector and he was instrumental in taking a number of incentives, which helped in expanding the scope of the insurance business. Imtiaz Haider is working as Managing Director of the Islamabad Stock Exchange (ISE). Imtiaz has more than 20 years experience in finance, business management, corporate governance, academia and marketing.
After induction of Muhammad Asif and Imtiaz Haider as Commissioners of the SECP, the total number of commissioners in the commission would increase from two to four, which would help the heads of respective divisions to concentrate on their work more effectively and efficiently and their would be multi-faceted improvement in the output of the Insurance and Securities Market Divisions of the SECP.
