Members of Peace Laskhar from Adazai have asked the provincial government to shun indifferent attitude and called for extending all required support and assistance to them for curbing militancy and dismantling terrorism network in the area.
Speaking at a news conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, the head of Peace Lashkar, affiliated with PML-Q, Delawar Khan said that the lashkar has played a vital role for establishment of peace in the area and has used own resources for the purpose.
He rejected government claims for extending full financial and technical support, saying that it did nothing on ground and is only making verbal statements via media. He alleged that government is creating rift and friction among the different groups of peace lashkar. "We don't know about the discriminatory attitude against them, he maintained. "We had fought war for establishment of peace, soil and integrity of the country, however, the behaviour is totally out of context, he said.
Delawar criticised that his party's central leader over the non-supportive attitude, and asked for bringing changes in their behaviour about the workers in the province. "We have rendered sacrifices of elders for restoration of peace in the area, but the government did not make contact with them over passage of five months, he lamented.
Referring to the commitment of the government, he said the Federal Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik had announced to award 'pride of performance' to the head of the peace lashkar and medal for martyred SP Abdul Kalam Khan over their bravery, who had foiled three suicide attempts and killed a top commander. However, government has not fulfilled its commitment yet. He alleged that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is creating hurdles in this regard.
The lashkar chief asked the provincial government to refrain from the bigotry attitude and stop pressuring them by using state machinery and resources. "We are tolerating cruelty and ferocity, but we will never remain silent for long period against the government," he maintained. He said that if anything happen with him then 'provincial Minister for Information, Mian Iftikhar and Senior Minister for Local Government, Bashir Ahmad Khan Bilour will be responsible'.
He urged the media to play its due role for rooting up terrorism and militancy from the pakhtuns' soil, saying the terrorists want to weaken Pakistan. He also asked leaders of different political and liberal parties to become united against terrorism in the country. He demanded of all religious parties' factions to play their role for creation of awareness that suicide attacks are forbidden in Islam.
When asked about any future course of action, Delawar said that they will move court against the government, if was failed to accept their demands. "We need ammunition, weapon, vehicles, fuel and food along-with other required facilities to continue efforts for elimination of terrorism and militancy in the area, he said.
