The second wave of 48,100 cusecs water in River Sutlej passed through Ganda Singh Wala in Kasur district on Friday, as India discharged more water from its barrages and dams into the river. District Co-ordination Officer Syed Irshad Shah said that the district administration was on alert to deal with any eventuality.
Flood Forecasting Centre, Lahore, said that 48,100 cusecs water entered in Kasur district at 10:15 hours on Friday. The water discharge at Sulemanki headworks was 36.800 cusecs. It said all the major Rivers, Indus, Chenab, Kabul, Jhelum are flowing below low flood level.
Meanwhile, met office said that seasonal low lies over north-west Balochistan. Weak monsoon currents are affecting upper parts of the country. In its forecast for Saturday it says scattered rain/thundershower is likely in upper Punjab (Islamabad / Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Bahawalpur, Sargodha divs.) Hazara division and Kashmir. Dry weather expected elsewhere in the country.
