JI for end of political patronage of law-breakers

22 Aug, 2011

The Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary-General, Liaquat Baloch, stressed upon the PPP, the MQM and the ANP to stop patronage of the law breakers in Karachi to pave way for peace in the city.
He said the elements enjoying political support are involved in the Karachi violence. It was the MQM that introduced violence, extortion and target killings in politics and now all the parties in the Sindh ruling alliance had adopted the patronage of criminals under the official umbrella.
He said the government which was responsible for the law and order and protection of the life and property of the citizens is itself playing with the people's lives. As a result, the business community and the affected citizens had demanded handing over the mega city to the armed forces.
He said the Army Chief Gen. Kiyani's statement correctly pointed out the problem. However, he said if after FATA, Khyber-P. and Baluchistan, Karachi is also brought under military operation and military control; how could the remaining part of the country be saved from the military supremacy.
He said it did not look proper for a political, democratic government to seek military support instead of going for the enforcement of the law as this reflect the failure of the political and democratic forces. Liaquat Baloch demanded that law should be enforced without any discrimination in Karachi adding that every body knew the target killers and extortionists who must be uprooted.
