High prices of pesticides, agriculture inputs, oil and high tariff of electricity have affected poor farmers who are in a fix to continue to grow crops under these circumstances.
Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) President Sardar Zafar Hussain while talking to delegation of farmers on Sunday said that the government should seriously take note of the situation and adopt suitable measures to facilitate farmers by resolving their problems.
He said farmers of flood-hit areas needed the government's help to grow crops as their belongings and standing crops had been washed away by the recent floods. He assured flood-hit farmers that the KBP leaders would visit flood-hit areas to monitor and review problems of growers across the country.
He said the KBP had directed local organisations to extend full co-operation and help to the victims in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, he said land grabbers had occupied the government land in pond areas across the country. He said the influential change water direction towards the land of poor growers just to save their own crops cultivated in the pond areas. He urged the government to take a stern action to retrieve land from land-mafia in pond areas.
