Breaching lawmakers' privileges: Senate body for action against SNGPL

Chairman Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges Senator, Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi has called for `stern disciplinary action' against the officials of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) for breaching the lawmakers' privileges.
The meeting of the committee was held here on Thursday under his chairmanship. Senator Muhammad Zahid Khan had moved privilege motions against the irresponsible attitude of Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Dr Nadeem-ul-Haq and incorrect replies of the questions raised by him to the ministry of petroleum and natural resources. Mashhadi the officials of SNGPL responsible for giving wrong reply on the hearing of senate may be suspended and disciplinary action should be taken against the officers concerned.
He said that misguiding the parliament is a crime and they can not accept breach of lawmakers' privileges. He said that SNGPL officials submitted wrong information to the parliament and he directed the department to prepare comprehensive report for the ministry of petroleum, which would be presented in the next meeting of the committee.
