Around Rs 8.6 million looted in separate robberies

Around Rs 8.6 million was looted in two separate robberies bids at different parts of the metropolis here on Thursday. First robbery was made at Aziz Bhatti police limits where a group of armed robbers looted around Rs 4.6 million from a moneychanger in broad daylight.
According to SHO Raja Tariq, a well-organised group of four armed men barged into the office of private money changer located in Park View Tower at around 9am and held all staffers and security guards hostage at gunpoint. He said the looters complete its operation in minutes and managed to flee with Rs 4.6 million from the scene. He said the police, who got CCTV footages, identified the culprits, who appeared to be Pushtoon. A case 530/11 was registered on complain of Aqeel Zaidi and initiated probe in this connection.
Yet another robbery was made in the limits of Jackson police station where three armed men snatched Rs 4 million from the staffers of a private transport company. Colonel Naeem (Retd), an owner of the company while talking to this scribe said that at around 3:15pm, three armed men entered in his office and held his four staffers hostage at gunpoint. He said the looters ran away with a bagful of Rs 4 million. He said the police, who were immediately informed about the said incident, have arrested all culprits but disclosed the recovery of Rs 0.5 million.
However, the Kharadar police claimed to have detained two of three robbers, who were caught by the inhabitants. They said the police had recovered Rs 0.5 million from them while one of their accomplices, who managed to flee from the scene, ran away with the rest of the amount. No case was registered till filing of this report.
