Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) foiled a bid of terrorism at Gulistan-e-Jauhar where a powerful parcel bomb, dispatched to the house of the scientist of Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), was defused on early Friday.
According to police and BDS sources, a hand grenade which was planted in a tin-container, dispatched to the house of a PCSIR scientist Dr Zain-ul-Ebad located at Block-II Gulistan-e-Jauhar. They said the BDS after hectic efforts of hours had successfully defused the bomb. They said the parcel bomb was received by the father of Dr Zain from a person, who impersonated himself as a worker of a private courier company.
Police said that Dr Zain was not present at home when his father received the parcel. Later, Dr Zain being suspicious about the parcel put it outside his house and informed the police. The police and BDS officials rushed to the spot and recovered a bomb planted in a tin-container. They said the BDS experts defused the bomb. They said the parcel bomb was purportedly sent by Hazoor Bux from Sanghar. They said that it was a Russian-made bomb, carrying 500 grams of high explosives. A case 523/11 under anti-terrorism act has been registered.
