Research in medical science is a dire need of hour in order to diagnose and cure the diseases of modern age. To serve this purpose Administration of Lahore General Hospital has fixed an academic block where research related seminars, training workshops and research activities would be conducted.
This was announced by Principle Post Graduate Medical Institute and Lahore General Hospital Professor Dr Tariq Salah-ud-Din during a ceremony of awarding certificates to the participants of two day workshop on "childhood TB" held here at LGH. Medical Superintendent Dr Zafar Ikram, Chief Co-ordinator Professor Agha Shabir Ali, Director TB Programme Dr Nayyer Ghayas and doctors from all over the province attended the workshop.
Professor Tariq Salah-ud-Din said that by merging Neuro Auditorium and old laboratory in the hospital, a modern academic block for research has been formed at a cost of 6.6 million, which will be functional next month. Professor Tariq Salah-ud-Din, while terming the workshop very encouraging, said that such activities should go long way to improve the capability of doctors. He said that TB could be controlled through care and prevention. This disease is curable and TB patients should be loved and not hated.
Professor Tariq Salah-ud-Din said that Punjab Government has provided all necessary facilities to combat the TB and other ailments at all the provincial hospitals and basic health units. He said that PGMI cater for all the needs and requirements of doctors regarding research. He stressed the doctors to keep constant touch with research centres in order to be updated about modern knowledge of medical science.
