Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Tahir Muneer Minhas has said that moonsoon rains have begun in Balochistan and so far three districts Loralai, Kalat and Khuzdar have been worst hit. Monsoon rains have caused 9 deaths in these districts.
Addressing a Press conference here Saturday, DG PDMA said that so far four monsoon rains have fallen in Balochistan so far while Met Department has predicted more rains in the areas of the province. He said 18 trucks including tents, relief goods and food items have been dispatched to the affectees in Loralai, Khuzdar and Kalat districts. If need be more goods would be sent.
He on the directives of Balochistan Chief Minister leaves of PDMA staff had been cancelled and from eid day till today Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) staff was present on its duty. He said he has suggested to the provincial government since massive destruction is caused by monsoon rains in Balochistan so Rupees 500 million should be allocated for relief and rescue activities. He said Chief Minister was being kept abreast of the losses caused by rains and floods and his directives were being followed.
