Ebad meets KBA delegation

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad has appreciated the role of lawyers community in upholding constitution and rule of law in the country. Talking to a delegation of Karachi Bar Association (KBA) here on Saturday, the Governor said that compensation will be paid to the heirs of lawyers killed in terrorism related incidents.
The delegation informed the Governor that 22 lawyers, 14 of them its members have been killed in recent terrorist incidents. The Governor advised the delegation to set up an endowment fund for the welfare of lawyers and assured that the government will contribute its share to this fund. Annual grant will also be provided to the association, he added.
On the complaint in connection with threats to the lawyers by some criminal elements, the Governor said that measures would be taken to provide security to them. In this regard, the Governor said that a committee comprising representatives of Home Department, Police and CPLC would be formed for quick response to the lawyers' complaints. The delegation comprising KBA President and General Secretary and senior lawyers, appreciated the Sindh Governor for paying attention to their complaints.
