Islamabad Police have decided to contact police of other districts especially of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to curb car lifting incidents and ensure recovery of stolen cars by arresting car receivers as well as gangs of auto-thieves in case they managed to escape there.
The decision was taken in a meeting of SP (Investigation) Chaudhry Liaqat Ali with In-Charge Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) Altaf Aziz Khattak held here Thursday to chalk out effective strategy for curbing car theft incidents in the city. The SP (Investigation) directed In-Charge ACLC to constitute special teams who may contact with the police of other districts including Mardan, Swabi, Peshawar and also administration of Malakand for the arrest of car receiving gangs, car thieves and proclaimed offenders.
He said that close liaison should be maintained with police of other districts and raids may be conducted along with local police on the basis of solid information against the operative gangs of car thieves. SP (Investigation) also asked to compile a date of those persons remained involved in car lifting, faced imprisonment in past for committing this crime and also monitor their activities through special assignment to the competent policemen in line with the objective to curb auto-theft incidents. He said that Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan has given the task to ACLC for effective policing to curb car theft incidents. The SP (Investigation) also reviewed the previous strategy and performance report of ACLC in this regard and directed to make further improvement in it.
