Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) on Friday detained eight suspects including sham Rangers official in separate raids at various parts of the metropolis. According to official sources, three suspects were arrested during a raid at Maripur.
The suspects, who were identified as Nisar Memon, Rizwan and Hassan Chamber, were detained on a tip-off and the LEAs had recovered one Kalashnikov and three TT pistols from their possession. The suspects were taken to undisclosed location for further investigation, during which initial course of interrogation, they confessed of killing at least five people in separate acts of violence.
A sham Rangers officer, who was allegedly involved in the recent wave of violence and targeted killings, was arrested from Old Goilmar. Police said the accused person, who was identified as Qamar Zaman was arrested during routine patrolling near Old Golimar with a TT pistol. They said the suspect wore Rangers uniform and pretended to be a sub-inspector of Rangers. A case was registered against him and later he was sent to jail.
Five more suspects namely Jalil, Ghulam Abbas, Abdul Fateh, Arif and Khalil Ahmed were taken into custody by Sohrab Goth police from Ayub Goth Chowki and recovered a riffle and four TT pistol from them. Police claimed that the detained persons were involved in several heinous crimes including murder, extortion, kidnapping, etc. A case was registered and further investigation was in process.
