Commodities' prices fluctuate moderately, as rains hamper supply position

Only a couple of days trading was marked on the commodity markets, some items on the higher side due to rains, which restricted smooth supply. On the opening day after the Eid holidays there was no fluctuation registered on the wholesale commodity markets. After celebrating holidays people are engaged in greetings. The most needy ones may lift very essentials commodities.
On Tuesday goods prices rose, some sharply said to be due to uncertain rains. Transportation from upcountry markets and Sindh was hindered by rains. However, wheat old and new (bardana) rose by Rs 30 to Rs 2600 and Rs 2615, grams Australia No. 2 price pushed higher by Rs 75 to Rs 4725 and Rs 4925, yellow peas from Canada low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4100, while the other type was higher by Rs 200 to Rs 5300, yellow peas Canada dal low type gained Rs 450 to Rs 4500, while better type rose by Rs 500 to Rs 4700, yellow peas Ukraine low quality was up by Rs 150 to Rs 3950, while good type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4100, and yellow peas Ukraine dal low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 4400, while the other type was higher by Rs 50 to Rs 4600, on the rice side Irri 6 Sindh gained Rs 50 to Rs 3750 and Rs 3715, cottonseed cakes in Sindh with bag rose by Rs 50 to Rs 1200 and better by variety was appreciated by Rs 65 to Rs 1225.
On Wednesday some trading and fluctuation in rates were marked on the day. Moong Punjab yielded Rs 500 to Rs 6500, Masoor Canada was quoted at Rs 5400 and Rs 5500, masoor Canada dal also shed Rs 500 to Rs 7000, owing to fresh arrival. Bajra low type lost Rs 50 to Rs 2550, while better type shed Rs 100 to Rs 2800, Irri 6 Sindh low type was unchanged at Rs 3750, while better type rose by Rs 25 to Rs 3800. New type of Irri was launched at Rs 3575, cottonseed cakes with bag in Sindh low type retained overnight level, while good type was up by Rs 25 to Rs 1250.
On Jodia Bazaar kirana items per 40 kgs white pepper ended higher by Rs 3300 to Rs 36000, black pepper from Singapore rose by Rs 2500 to Rs 27,500, black pepper Ceylon gained Rs 2000 to Rs 27,000 black pepper from Brazil rose by Rs 1000 by Rs 29000, mace ended down by Rs 2000 to Rs 106,000, big Cardamom shed Rs 3000 to Rs 82,000, cloves rose by Rs 2000 to Rs 58,000, copra India lost Rs 50 to Rs 6950, dry ginger from China rose by Rs 100 to Rs 15,200, star aniseed rose by Rs 2000 to Rs 19000, darchine lost Rs 100 to Rs 6500 and pineapple (per carton) polac ended down Rs 250 to Rs 1500.
On Thursday makai was registered at Rs 2375 and Juwar low type was unchanged at Rs 2100, while better type rose by Rs 50 to Rs 2200, wheat old and new bardana lost Rs 10 to Rs 2590 and Rs 2605, Irri 6 Sindh new type rose by Rs 150 to Rs 3725, Irri white broken low type was unchanged at Rs 2800, while good type lost Rs 50 to Rs 2850, rapeseed cakes rose by Rs 10 to Rs 820 and Rs 830, til low type rose by Rs 100 to Rs 5600, cotton cakes with bag inferior type was up Rs 100 to Rs 1300, the other type was up Rs 150 to Rs 1400.
On Jodia Bazaar acid dyes India (per pound) Rhodamine quoted at Rs 900, violet 6B up Rs 25 to Rs 180, sulphur dyes China sulphur 522 rose by Rs 10 to Rs 90, blue BRN lost Rs 15 to Rs 140, brown GDR rose by Rs 3 to Rs 95 and Olive rose by Rs 18 to Rs 110.
On Friday not a single change was witnessed, as participants were busy in preparations for Juma prayers.
On Saturday guwar and barley prices were higher guwar Sindh and Punjab, as a result of tight supply gained Rs 100 to Rs 6700-6800, barley Sindh and Mardan rose by Rs 200 to Rs 3000 and gur was quoted at Rs 7000 amid slow trading. Irri-6 Sindh old was registered at Rs 3800 and new type of same quality shed Rs 25 to Rs 3700, other types maintained overnight levels. Castorseed Lasbela was traded at Rs 2400-2450 and castorseed Sindh at Rs 2300, cottonseed oilcake with bag Sindh low type was up by Rs 75 to Rs 1375, while the best type was trading at Rs 1400.
