Looks like Intel is not only about chips and Ferrari is not just about cars, as the two companies have recently partnered up to make artificially intelligent (AI) drones.

At this year’s CES, Intel disclosed the news about three-year partnership with Ferrari North America to manufacture artificially intelligent drones flying over race tracks capturing videos and analyzing them in real time. The AI drone would go live during 2018’s Ferrari Challenge North America Series, according to CNET.

After the AI drones capture the video, they analyze it and offer telematic information to the drivers and their crews in order to help them tighten up lap times and identify when the driver’s performance needs improvement.

As per Intel, the information will also be used by the broadcasters to help in creating narrative with data that is not usually available to TV crews and to deliver all the subtle details to the viewers, reported Engadget.

The data gathered by the drones about the cars will also be way more detailed than anything produced by a human, as the AI would identify even the faintest variations that usually go unnoticed by humans.
