'Padmavat' vs 'Padman': Deepika and Akshay to face-off at box office

09 Jan, 2018

After facing a series of controversies, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavat’ has finally gotten a release date. However, there is a slight glitch to it as another big movie is releasing the same day and it is none other than Akshay Kumar and Sonam Kapoor's ‘Padman’.

In 2007, the two leading stars, Deepika and Sonam, competed with their first movies in Bollywood industry. However, Deepika’s ‘Om Shanti Om’ was the clear winner against Sonam’s ‘Sawaariyan’.

Now after more than a decade, the actresses are yet again ready for their next face-off at the box office with their movies. Both the movies, 'Padman' and 'Padmavat' (earlier called Padmavati), are slated to release on an Indian Republic Day on January 25.

However, while speaking about the clash, Sonam said she does not believe in competition. “It is a good thing. Good cinema is good cinema. I don’t believe in competition. Our film is sweet and simple and I think honestly I am happy that the film [Padmavat] is releasing. I hope it does well,” PinkVilla quoted the actress.

Similarly, Akshay said he is happy ‘Padmavat’ is finally releasing. "It is not about competition. It is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come and both the films can release on that day. Every film has the right to release whenever they want and I am happy for them,” he said.
