Parties must show political maturity: Gilani

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that all the political forces should show political maturity in the greater interest of stability of democracy in the country. "We don't want to see the repeat of politics of 80s and 90s," he said while talking to reporters at the inaugural ceremony of Sixth Expo Pakistan held at Sindh Governor's House on Wednesday.
According to him, the people of the country will not accept any illegal and unconstitutional move against an elected government. In response to Pir Pagaro's remarks, the Prime Minister said: "Pir Sahib is our elder. We respect him and we would request him to change his date that he has given for the change of the government". Regarding the opposition's demand of re-structuring eight public sector entities, the PM said the cabinet had already approved this plan one year ago. He said the Governor of State Bank of Pakistan would be presenting his recommendations regarding restructuring of Pakistan Railways soon. "I asked him just after his appointment as new Governor SBP to discuss these recommendations so that the issue could be resolved," he said.
Answering a question, he said that any decision regarding trade with India would be taken in the best interest of the country. To another question, he said MQM is the ally of the government and there exist good working relations between PPP and MQM. He thanked MQM and its leader Altaf Hussain for their co-operation for political stability in the country. According to him, economic growth and political stability are deeply interconnected.
