President Asif Ali Zardari will leave for Jordan on Friday to participate in a special meeting of World Economic Forum on "Economic Growth and Job Creation in the Arab World" at the Dead Sea on 21-23 October 2011. According to sources, Federal Minister for Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Dr Farooq Sattar would accompany the President.
When contacted, Presidential Spokesperson, who is in Jordan, confirmed that the participation of the president in the forum on October 22. The World Economic Forum is an independent international organisation committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industrial agendas.
The sources said that the economic team accompanying the president would try its level best to persuade Arab countries to invest in Pakistan and to pave the way for more jobs opportunities for Pakistanis in these countries.
The World Economic Forum''s special meeting on Economic Growth and Job Creation in the Arab World will bring together participants from Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) countries, the Levant and Maghreb, and the international community, to focus on best practice in economic policy and reforms and to elaborate on concrete ways in which all stakeholders can drive positive outcomes across the region. Heads of major international and regional organisations, including intergovernmental development banks would participate in the meeting.
