Salaried persons: FBR unveils new procedure for e-enrolment

22 Oct, 2011

The Federal Board of Revenue on Friday launched a new procedure for e-enrollment (swift enrollment) for salaried persons to ensure timely filing of their income tax returns. Sources told Business Recorder on Friday that in continuation of various facilitation steps taken by the FBR from time to time, the FBR has now launched a simplified procedure for e-enrollment of salaried persons so that they may e-file their income tax return in time.
The facility would help salaried persons timely file their returns under the 'swift e-enrollment facility'. The details of the facilitative measure revealed that the last date for e-filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2011 by salaried persons is October 25, 2011. Therefore, most of them are applying for e-enrollment with the tax department for return filing purpose. According to the old procedure, the salaried persons were required to go through the process of change in particulars for even providing email and mobile phone numbers which are essential for e-enrollment at the FBR web portal.
The process took a few days ago to complete and then there was another stage wherein the 'PIN code' was sent to the e-enrolled persons through courier, which also consumed a day or two. Now, the FBR has implemented a swift procedure for e-enrollment for salaried persons, who can provide all the basic particulars in one go at https://e.fbr/gov.pk.
Upon successful submission of e-enrollment form, the FBR system immediately sends the user-ID and password at the e-mail address and the PIN code via SMS. After obtaining user-ID and password, the taxpayer can start e-filing his income tax return immediately. The link for availing of swift enrollment can be accessed by visiting the eFBR portal at http://e.fbr.gov.pk and selecting the "swift e-enrolment option for salaried persons" under the "e-enrolment" link, sources added.
