US MIDDAY: grains soar

22 Oct, 2011

US grains rallied early on Friday, with wheat climbing 2 percent and corn at its highest in nearly four weeks on prospects for a resolution to Europe's debt crisis, firm cash grain markets and slow producer selling. Soyabeans held firm on a late-week market correction after declining steadily for the past four days, leaving that market poised to end the week lower.
At 11:11 am CDT (1611 GMT), CBOT December corn was up 8 cents per bushel at $6.57-1/2, December wheat was up 14-1/2 at $6.45-1/4 and November soya was up 3 at $12.28.
