Government urged to pay attention to rain-affected areas

President Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI), Goharullah and members of the governing body of the chamber demanded immediate attention for the repair of damaged infrastructure caused by recent heavy rains. In a joint statement, issued here on Friday evening, the office bearers said that despite submitting the issues to District Co-ordination Officer about the issues being faced by the residents of Hashmi Colony of Site and vicinity, district government paid no heed.
These issues, they added, are causing inconvenience for the residents of the area. They informed that the management of Site and the district government had agreed that the district government would construct the road in the colony after lying water supply line. However, despite a passage of two years, government has not constructed the road, resulting in heavy losses to the trade and industry of the city.
They said that Hyderabad is the second hub of trade, industry and economy of Sindh and possesses great potential of foreign investment but 250 out of 400 industrial units of the industrial zone are 'experiencing problems in carrying out smooth activities of trade and industry'. They were of the view that despite share of rupees six billion in respect of income tax, Rs 14 billion in respect of sales tax and Rs 220 million in federal excise duty and the business community is not receiving due benefits.
