Appointment of Lahore District Co-ordination Officer (DCO) Ahad Cheema has been challenged before the Lahore High Court (LHC). A bar member Muhammad Azhar Siddique contended in his petition that Cheema is an officer of grade-18 but on political ground his appointment was made on grade-20 post, which is sheer violation of section 26 of Local Government Ordinance 2001.
He said initially Cheema was working in grade-17 and was appointed secretary education, a post of grade 20, and during that period he was promoted to garde-18. Being a secretary education he introduced on-line examination system, which badly failed. Ultimately students' future was at risk. The petitioner said later Cheema failed to take prompt action against dengue virus and his negligence caused hundreds of deaths. He prays to the court to set aside Cheema's appointment as DCO.
