Federal Minister for Communications, Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil has said that 13 ongoing projects in Sindh costing Rs62 billion, being executed by National Highway Authority (NHA), would be completed by April 2012. He expressed these views while talking to media persons prior to his departure from Karachi for Islamabad, said a statement issued on Sunday.
The federal minister, who had a weeklong visit to Sindh, said that all available resources are being employed to ensure timely completion of development projects including Lyari Expressway and Ratodero-Sehwan Road projects. He said that he visited Sindh on the directives of President, Asif Ali Zardari. He said that he has personally reviewed all these projects and directed the contractors to complete them in accordance with international standards.
He informed that the trauma centres set up along the motorways are running successfully and now the authority intends to expand the range of these. He added that NH&MP have earned an outstanding place among the motorway police of other countries due to its performance and integrity. The minister said, "we are working hard to improve the performance of other departments as well under the ministry of communications so that these can become a role model for other entities".
