Lahore DCO appointment: LHC seeks reply from Punjab government

26 Oct, 2011

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice here on Tuesday sought reply from Punjab government within fortnight in a petition challenging appointment of Lahore District Co-ordination Officer (DCO).
Earlier the petitioner, Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique, in his arguments stated before the court that the respondent DCO Ahmad Cheema was an officer of grade-18 but his appointment was made on grade-20 post on political ground, which is sheer violation of section 26 of Local Government Ordinance 2001.
He said initially Cheema was working in grade-17 and he was appointed secretary education, a post of grade 20, and during that period he was promoted to garde-18. Being a secretary education he introduced on-line examination system, which badly failed. Ultimately students' future was at risk.
