With Eidul Azha just around the corner, several unauthorised sacrificial animal markets established in the city, inflation and the financial crunch have started to give a tough time to customers and they may not be able get sacrificial animals in their estimated budget owing extraordinary high prices.
People have started visiting the main cattle market at Super Highway and others unauthorised markets to buy animals for Eidul Azha, but are unwilling to pay the sky-high prices. At Delhi Colony a car and carpet dealer have vacated their showrooms and made a temporary sacrificial animals market. There are several hoarding also pop up in the city inviting people to visit their website for online purchase of the animals.
They also offered to deliver the selected sacrificial animals at their residence and collect the price. Although the animals available online were far expensive than those in open market, but according to the customers it was worth spending extra money, as it saves them from a long exercise required in visiting market and dealing with the traders.
Most of the times the online purchase of animal is done with credit cards and the animal are delivered at the doorstep of the customer. Beside sacrificial animals prices of green fodder, Barsim, have gone extremely high. Similarly the prices of nutritional feed, including grains and wheat, had also doubled. Those who have already bought animals in bulk and transported them to Lahore are now worried about their sales. Many of them said they would take their animals back home instead of facing a huge financial loss.
