There was no fire on PIA Boeing 747 aircraft, flight number PK 1458 with no passengers on board; returning from Jeddah which landed safely at Lahore airport. PIA Spokesman said on Saturday. While it was landing at Lahore airport, the control tower cautioned the captain about suspected smoke in one of the engines, which was not being indicated on the cockpit panel.
The aircraft after landing safely followed the normal safety procedure and the aircraft is now being fully checked. The initial report of the ground engineers is that "they did not notice any smoke or fire on the aircraft engine". However, according to the standard operating procedure, the aircraft will now have to go through a complete check for safety reasons and would be again operational in three to four hours. The intending pilgrims, which were to leave by PK 1257 for Jeddah will be transferred to another aircraft in order to avoid any prolonged delay in their departure. PIA spokesman concluded.-PR
