Plan to provide incentives to growers

On the directives of the President Asif Ali Zardari, the Sindh government has prepared a comprehensive plan to provide incentives to those 92,000 small growers of Badin district whose farmland sustained damages as a result of September 2011 heavy rainfalls.
According to official sources, the government would provide 5,29,158 kilograms seeds of sunflowers to those 92,052 small growers who possessed 25 acres of land and their crops were damaged as a result of heavy rainfalls. Similarly, the provincial government would also provide 1,49,98,140 kilograms of wheat seeds to them so that they could enable to sow wheat crop in the season, the sources informed.
After conducting a detailed survey, the District Government Badin has prepared a report for Sindh government in which provision of compensation of losses as well as seeds and fertilisers to rain affected growers has been requested.
