USAID remained largest assistance provider in October

Pakistan received 240.8 million dollars as external assistance in the first month of the second quarter (October-December) of the current fiscal year 2011-12. According to data available with Business Recorder, USAID has remained the largest assistance provider to Pakistan in October by disbursing $82.31 million.
Sources told this scribe that most of the $240.8 million has been received for assistance for flood victims. After USAID, Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) was the second highest disburser of assistance to Pakistan. CERF, the data reveals, provided 65.20 million dollars and Belgium can be declared the third largest assistance provider with $28.53 million.
AusAID (Australian Agency for International Development) disbursed $25.87 million, Japan $10 million, Luxembourg $0.447 million, Netherlands 0.19 million dollars, Spain $28.2 million, and Extended Funding Window (UN-EFW) provided 0.0693 million dollars to Pakistan during the first month of the second quarter of 2011-12.
The data available with this scribe shows that during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, USAID provided $50.2 million to Pakistan. UK Department for International Development (DFID) disbursed $3.8 million, Ireland $3 million, Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) disbursed $4.3 million, International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) disbursed $4.7 million, United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) provided $3.5 million, United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA) disbursed $1.4 million and International Development Association (IDA) provided $1 million. Sweden disbursed $3.5 million, Islamic Development Bank (IDB) $0.9 million, Germany $1 million, Agence Francaise de Development (AFD) $0.4 million, International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) $4.4 million while Saudi Fund for Development released $1 million to Pakistan.
Pakistan received $0.4 million from China, Japan $4, Netherlands $0.8 million, and Food Agriculture Organisation of United Nation (FAO) provided $11,000 to the country. Similarly, United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) disbursed $0.4 million to Pakistan during the first quarter of the current FY 2011-12.
Norway 0.6 million dollars, Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) 0.5 million dollars, Luxembourg 0.4 million dollars, Italy $0.3 million, International Labour Organisation (ILO) 0.2 million dollars, Emergency Response Fund (ERF) 24, 460 dollars, Canadian International Development Agency ( CIDA) 0.5 million dollars, Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) 1.5 million dollars, European Union $8.9 million and Canada provided 0.9 million dollars to Pakistan in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
