Ukrainian farms have harvested 51.9 million tonnes of grain from 94 percent of the sown area as of November 4, Interfax news agency reported on Friday citing the Agriculture Ministry. The ministry said in a report the grain yield averaged 3.58 tonnes per hectare against 2.81 tonnes at the same date in 2010. Ukraine harvested 32.6 million tonnes of grain as of September 19, 2010.
Ukraine, which plans to harvest 15.5 million hectares of various grains in 2011, forecast a harvest of about 54 million tonnes. The ex-Soviet republic harvested 39.2 million tonnes of grain in 2010.
