A cargo volume of 92,286 tonnes, comprising 76,207 tonnes of import cargo and 16,079 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 3,157 loaded & empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during last 24 hours on Saturday. The total import cargo of 76,207 tonnes includes 14,000 tonnes of furnace oil; 9,000 tonnes of palm oil; 1,100 tonnes of bitumen; 368 tonnes of project cargo; 4,643 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 7,756 tonnes of chemicals and 39,322 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 16,079 tonnes includes 000 tonnes of corn; 1,640 tonnes of rice; 2,296 tonnes of cement and 12,143 tonnes of containerised cargo. Five ships namely MV STX Bright, CV Al-Mirqab, MT Bunga Laurel, MT Olympic Serenity and MT DL Voilet sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, on Saturday morning.
A total number of ten vessels CV Al-Mirqab, CV MSC Anafi, MV STX Bright, MV Alexi-1, MT Asphalt Merchant, MT Bunga Laurel, MT Olympic Serenity, MT DL Voilet, MV Kiran Africa and MV Safina-II are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, cement, rice, bitumen, palm oil, furnace oil, chemicals and sunflower seeds respectively during last 24 hours.
Five ships namely Bunga Almanda, Grace, Iron Kalypso, Siva Coral and Al-Salam-II with palm oil, sunflower seeds, LPG and diesel oil respectively are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of four vessels viz CV MSC Sena, MT SC Shantou, MT Pertivi and MT Al-Soor-II are expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Liquid Cargo Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Saturday.
