Hard red winter wheat basis bids were steady on Friday as spot mill demand ebbed slightly against application of contracted supplies. Higher protein supplies remained in good demand as a substitution for higher-priced spring wheat. Protein premiums for railcar wheat to and through Kansas City dropped 3 cents a bushel for 13.00 percent protein wheat and for 13.20- and 13.40-pro wheat.
Kansas City Board of Trade hard red winter wheat futures closed 16 cents lower on Thursday at $6.97.
