Growers hold rallies against price hike of agriculture inputs

The growers across the country on the call of Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) staged protest demonstrations and took out rallies against increasing prices of fertiliser, electricity, pesticides and other agricultural inputs. A number of rallies and demonstrations were held in Pattoki, Kashmore, Nankana Sahib and many other places of Punjab and Sindh. The growers also demanded of the government to restore subsidy on agricultural inputs.
KBP Central President Sardar Zafar Hussein and Sindh President Dr Abdur Razzak Soomro led the rally at Kashmore and demanded of the government to withdraw sales tax from agricultural inputs and implements, as it would not only ruin country's economy but would also create severe food shortage.
KBP Central Secretary Information Haji Muhammad Ramzan, District Chief Nazir Ahmad led the rally in Pattoki and also staged a sit-in outside district courts. In Sheikhupura KBP workers staged a sit-in outside Haseeb Waqas Mills, KBP Secretary Information Haji Ramzan said.
