At-least three persons including the activists of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and one of the banned outfits were targeted in separate incidents in different parts of the metropolis on Monday. According to police and rescuers, the member of banned outfit was shot dead at his clinic located in Babar Market in the limits of Landhi police station.
The incident took place on early Monday when unidentified armed men reached Rehman Homeopathic Clinic and opened indiscriminate firing at Abdul Rehman, 43. Resultantly, he received two bullets and died on the spot. Police said the victim, who was the father of four, was the resident of Zaman Abad Landhi and added that the deceased belonged to the Ahle Hadees sect and got trained in Afghanistan. A case was registered against unidentified men on the complaint of victim's brother Abid Qadri.
An activist of MQM was shot dead at his mobile shop when he offered resistance during robbery bid in the limits of Baldia police station. The victim Salman Butt, 23 offered resistance when three bandits stormed in his mobile shop located in sector 7 Baldia. Resultantly, one of the bandit sprayed him with bullet, leaving him in a pool of blood. After committing the crime, one of the bandits, who were busy in getting escaped from the scene, was caught by area people, who brutally beaten him before transferring his custody to police.
Police said the bandit was identified as Asif and they had recovered a TT pistol from his possessions. They said the victim, who was the resident of same area where the incident took place and used to run a mobile communication shop, was an active worker of MQM. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for legal formalities and later handed over his family. A case was registered against Asif and his other accomplices.
Yet another man was gunned down at Al Asif Square in the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station. The incident took place at a tea stall situated at Al Asif Square, where Javed, 35 son of Yaqoob was targeted while taking tea from the stall. Resultantly he died on the spot and his body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for legal formalities.
Police suspected that the victim, who was the resident of Landhi, might have been murdered over personal ground and added that he hailed from Hangu Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and labour by his profession. Later, the body was handed over to his heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report.
