Nine killed as bus falls into canal

At least nine persons including two women and two young girls were killed and 13 others received serious injuries in two separate road accidents in different cities of Southern Punjab on Wednesday. According to police, five persons died in the first accident took place in Bhawalpur near Head Islam where a Faisalabad bound passenger bus fell into Bahawal Canal after driver lost control of the vehicle.
The rescue teams and local people reached the scene and fished the bodies of two women and two young girls from the canal. Ten people were injured in the accident who were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Hasilpur where another injured succumbed to his wound while condition of others was stable.
In Shorekot Cantonment area, a speedy car collided head-on with a tractor trolley. Four people were killed in the accident and four others sustained injuries. The police with the help of rescue personnel shifted the bodies and injured to Shorekot Cantt Hospital where the injured were said to be in critical state.
