At the call of Pakistan Medical Association Punjab (PMA), Doctors in Multan observed two hours partial strike in Multan district and other hospitals of 36 districts of Punjab on Wednesday and it will also be observed on Thursday (today) and a complete strike in all hospitals on Friday if the FIR against the five doctors of Sheikh Zayed Hospital is not withdrawn in 48 hours.
The ICUs, CCUs and emergencies of all the hospitals, however, worked during the strike and all critical patients were provided with complete medical treatment, PMA office-bearers said in a press conference that Police officer who registered FIR be terminated.
It was resolved that the administration of Sheikh Zayed Hospital should be directed to get FIR registered against the people who attacked the hospital and harassed its staff. The PMA office-bearers further added that for the last 17 days the doctors of Sheikh Zayed Hospital were on strike but the government had not bothered to resolve the issue. They alleged that there were certain elements within the government who were trying to mishandle the situation and create unrest in the doctors' community.
