Chief secretary Sindh reviews implementation pace of Lyari package

Chief Secretary of Sindh, Raja Muhammad Abbas on Wednesday sought up-to-date reports from the secretaries of Local Government and Finance departments on issues related to Lyari Development Package (LDP). Presiding a meeting to review implementation pace of the package, he said government has prioritised development work in the oldest locality of Karachi.
On the occasion officials explicitly discussed sanitation and disposal of garbage, water supply and sewerage system, electrification, construction of roads and streets, play ground and parks, school building, boxing clubs, football houses. Construction of a pedestrian bridge on Mauripur Road and adherence to building by-laws were also discussed on the occasion.
The chief secretary advised the planning and development department to furnish the status of P.C One viz a viz various schemes approved under LDP. Finance department's officials were asked to communicate report on the releases of funds. The CS Raja Mohammad Abbas instructed the secretary of local government department to ensure sanitation and disposal of garbage in accordance with LDP requirements, through Zonal Municipal Administration, South.
The meeting was informed that the summary for roads/streets is likely to be signed within a couple of days. The Chief Secretary approved the proposal to constitute a committee for composition of by-laws for construction of residential as well as commercial buildings in a planned manners. This was cited to be extremely important to meet civic needs and ensure safety of the residents and people running businesses in the area. The committee was agreed to include Commissioner of Karachi, representatives of SBCA and Project Director LDP. The meeting was also attended by ACS (D) Malik Israr, Special Secretary. L.G., Shazia Rizvi, Special Secretary, Finance, E.A Khan, Commissioner Karachi Roshan Ali Shaikh and Project Director, LDP, Shafiq Paracha.
