Provincial Minister for Labour Haji Ehsaan-ud-Din Qureshi on Tuesday directed officials of the labour department to ensure the implementation of labour laws specially for timely payment of minimum wages Rs 7000 per month by the employers. He directed for regular inspection of factories.
He further directed the officials for providing protection at work places of women, eliminating gender discrimination for the provision of facilities and working rights, pension & old age benefits, social security rights and provision of educational grant.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting to discuss the labour issues. Secretary Labour, Director Labour, Commissioner Social Security, high-ranking officers of Industries, Social Welfare, Law, Labour and PBIT attended the meeting. The minister urged officials to adopt measures to prevent child labour and bonded labour. He said that the Punjab government was implementing various projects for providing modern education to labourer's children and residential facilities to them.
