Qureshi, Nawaz meeting on the cards

17 Nov, 2011

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif is going to meet Gilani government's former foreign minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, on latter's return from Dubai. A former PPP Punjab president, Qureshi resigned from basic membership of Pakistan People's Party and National Assembly seat a few days ago and said he would unfold his future political plans in a public meeting at Ghotki (Sindh) on November 27.
Although PTI chief Imran Khan in a TV show claimed that Qureshi would announce to join his party on November 27, but sources closed to Qureshi family claimed that no formal decision has so far been taken, and things would clear after Qureshi-Nawaz meeting.
Sources in PML-N told this scribe that Qureshi had sought PML-N tickets--for himself and a number of his associates and some family members. During this projected meeting, views might also be exchanged on the option of quitting assemblies by the PML-N, sources added.
The PML-N head in his media talk at Bahawalpur said he had good relations with Mahmood and would meet him. Political pundits believe that Qureshi is playing his cards close to his chest. If Qureshi joins PML-N on his terms and conditions a new political scene may dawn in Punjab politics. However, it would be difficult for the PML-N leader to accept all conditions of Qureshi, they added.
