National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has set-up character building societies in all universities of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to eliminate corruption. This was stated by Director General (DG) NAB KP Brigadier Muhammad Musaddiq Abbasi (Retd) while addressing at an orientation workshop organised by NAB KP for the faculty/students members of Character Building Societies, established in various public/private sector universities of KP, in Peshawar recently.
Director Awareness & Prevention NAB (KP) Colonel Waheedullah Khan (Retd) also spoke on the occasion. Besides Additional Secretary, Higher Education, KP Khalid Khan as many as 150 students alongwith faculty members from 20 public/private sector universities attended the workshop.
Director General NAB said that nation had great expectations from the young generation make Pakistan a prosperous and dignified country in the comity of nations therefore, NAB (KP) as a first priority has established character building societies at universities level.
The process will be taken down to college, school level beside formation of anti-corruption committees at District, Tehsil and Union Council level in order to make collective and co-ordinated efforts for the eradication of corruption from the society and to ensure social justice, good governance and transparency.
He advised the students that beside academic excellence, they must practice high moral values such as truthfulness, punctuality, honesty, respect for others and give-up the bad habits of cheating, fraud, revenge. He urged students to adopt positive attitude in life. Earlier, the students were divided in various groups for brainstorming and presentations on personality traits for character building. Character building traits on which consensus of every group arrived included self-discipline, truthfulness and honesty, respect for others, punctuality and professionalism.
