Justice Muhammad Khalid Mahmood Khan of the Lahore High Court (LHC) overruled on Tuesday the objections raised in a petition challenging the oath of new LHC Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed administered by Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khan Khosa. The LHC registrar's office put an objection that the petitioner, a bar member Afaq Ahmad, has no locus standi for being not an aggrieved person.
Afaq argued that being a citizen of Pakistan, he had every right to move the case. Afaq had submitted that a case against the appointment of Khosa as Punjab governor was pending before the august court, therefore, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed should not have taken oath by the incumbent governor. The court adjourned the proceedings to November 28.
