Chief of Pakistan Muslim League (Functional), Pir Pagara on Tuesday said the President Asif Ali Zardari's policy of reconciliation had begun to crumble from now onwards, as a major political change had already hit the country. Known for political prophesies, the aged spiritual leader celebrated his 83rd birth day at his residence, predicting Pakistan Muslim League-N and his party seemed out of the race for the government but warned that next election were unlikely to happen.
Talking to reporters at the celebration, he said he had already forecast the political change would occur in November, which happed but ruled out change in the law. To a question, he said he had conversations on telephone with PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif.
Regarding the unification of all PML factions, he said the government had disintegrated the league into groups and it was its responsibility to unite them. He said chances of PML-N were, however, weak to form the next government. He said he had not prayed for Nawaz Sharif but had given good wished to him.
He said all the Muslim League factions were calling one another of being "Lota", although they were the offshoots of PML-F. He said since PML-N and his party were out of the government, therefore were "brothers". About the former Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Pir Pagara said his political future was "bright", adding that during his conversation on phone told him to continue the struggle. To a question, he said, Pakistan Army only intervened when it was disturbed or it wanted to disturb the political government.
He questioned the Supreme Court's remarks that Army could not intervene in the politically elected government's affairs, saying where had been the apex court during the military interventions to topple the Ghulam Muhammad and Nawaz Sharif governments.
Regarding the MQM and former Sindh Home Minister, Zulfiqar Mirza fight, Chief of PML-F said Mirza would remain in the affairs. He said he had not given blessing to Mirza but had enjoyed support from many other people. He said Imran Khan was being exploited and termed him a "horse" working for others.
He said including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari whoever wanted to continue their political career should join PML-F else they would lose the arena of politics. He predicated the unification of all leagues was not taking place. To a question, he said, he did not know Mansoor Ejaz and Hussain Haqqani, therefore, could not comment on the issue of controversial memo.
