ASWJ activist among 3 persons gunned down

At least three persons including an activist of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) were gunned down in separate incidents of targeted killings at different parts of the metropolis here on Tuesday. According to police and rescue sources, the activist of ASWJ was shot dead at his house located in Wahid Colony in the limits of North Nazimabad police station.
The incident took place in Wahid Colony situated in Block B, North Nazimabad, where unknown armed men barged into the house of Qari Zafar, 36, son of Mohammad Ramzan and opened indiscriminate gunshots on him. Resultantly he received fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot.
Following the incident, police rushed to the scene and moved the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities. Police said the victim, who was Quranic teacher in Ashraf Ul Madaris, Gulshan Iqbal, hailed from Rahim Yar Khan. They suspected that it was targeted murder and added that the deceased belonged to Deo-Band sect.
Spokesman of ASWJ formerly known as Sipah Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) Maulana Taj Hanfi condemned the said killing, saying that the victim was Unit in Charge of Wahid Colony. He demanded to the government to take responsible persons to task. The funeral prayers of victim were offered at Wahid Colony and later his body was moved to his hometown Muzzaffar Garh, Punjab. A case was registered against unidentified men.
A bullet-riddled body of youth was found from Nishtar Road in the limits of Garden police station. The identity of victim was yet to be ascertained, while police found his body from Nishtar Road near Shoe Market. Police said the victim wore Shalwar Kameez and appeared to be Irani Baloch.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for post-mortem and later moved to Edhi Morgue for identification. An FIR in this regard was lodged against unidentified men on the complaint of state. Similarly, an old man was targeted in Ittehad Town Baldia in the jurisdiction of Mochko police station. The incident took place at Ittehad Town where 65-year-old Haya Khan, son of Misri Khan, was gunned down when he was standing outside his home. He received severe bullet wounds and died on the spot.
Police said the victim, who was the resident of same area where the incident took place, was a watchman in local garments factory. They said the deceased hailed from Darra Adam Khail and might have been murdered over personal enmity. The body was transported to CHK for legal formalities and later handed over to his family. No case was registered till filing of this report.
