24 Nov, 2011

A comprehensive security and traffic plan has been chalked out for the second phase of Raiwind Tablighi Congregation, which is to begin on Thursday (today). Two exit routes have been put in place in case of any emergency, whereas a Traffic Police Camp and Wireless Control Room have also been setup at the main congregation road, which will keep continuous co-ordination with Traffic Wireless Control Room to be monitored by a DSP.
Parking of vehicles, other than places earmarked for parking stands, would not be allowed. Traffic Wardens were directed to keep a watchful eye on suspicious persons and unclaimed goods on the occasion. Police has also appealed to the participants of the Raiwind religious congregation to ensure that no vehicle is parked outside the road specified for parking, so that no traffic hindrance is created.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) has said that Lahore Police will remain on high alert during Raiwind Tablighi Ijtama and Muharram-ul-Haram. CCPO directed Lahore Police to ensure implementation of comprehensive community policing and ordered all SPs to keep a close liaison with the notables and public representatives of the area for which regular meetings be held. He appealed to the Ulema to ensure in their speeches emphasis on peace, unity and solidarity among the people. He said scourge of terrorism could only be combated with national unity and solidarity, as anti-country elements are pursuing nefarious agenda of making various segments of the society to fight against each other.
