The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced on Saturday that the moon of Moharramul Haram 1433 AD was sighted in the country and the Ashura would fall on December 6 (Tuesday). The meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for sighting the moon of Muharram-ul-Haram was presided over by its Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman held at Aiwan-i-Auqaf here this evening.
Addressing the media, the chairman said the moon was not sighted in Lahore, however, evidences of moon sighting received from other cities, including Islamabad, Jhelum and other areas. Ashura (10th Moharramul Haram) will be observed on December 6 (Tuesday).
He strongly condemned the Nato's strike over Pakistani posts in which 24 troops were martyred, adding the nation was facing critical time so it was a responsibility of Ulema, scholars and zakarins to promote inter-faith harmony among different sects. He urged the nation to face challenges unanimously. Later, the chairman prayed for peace, sovereignty, prosperity and progress of the country.
Members of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Mufti Muhammad Rafiq Hasni, Maulana Anwarul Haq Haqani, Mualana Abaidur Rehman Qamar, Mualana Khabeer Azaz and Qazi Niaz Naqvi while the members of Zonal Committee Qari Muhammad Arif Sialvi, Qari Ahmad Mian Thanvi, Deputy Director Federal Ministry of Religious Affairs Dr Raja Muhammad Hanif and Director Meteorologist Muhammad Riaz participated in the meeting organised by DG Auqaf Punjab Tahir Raza Bokhari.
