US wants Bangladesh's war crimes trial accessible to all

The United States wants Bangladesh to ensure that its 'liberation war' crimes trial is conducted in a transparent manner, with proceedings accessible to all, US Ambassador at Large for War Crimes Stephen J Rapp said Monday. "The process must be accessible to all. It must be conducted in transparent manner so that people are aware about the process," Rapp said in Dhaka.
Key testimony, arguments and rulings from the hearings into the crimes committed during the nine-month long 1971 war should be broadcast to the public, he said. Rapp also suggested the appointment of an independent observer to document the trial for a website.
