Defunct CDGK/KMC: inquiry into illegal appointments ordered

29 Nov, 2011

Administrator Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Muhammad Hussain Syed ordered an inquiry into illegal appointments of employees in defunct CDGK/KMC; it is underway and any decision in this regard will be taken after submission of its final report.
He said that the action was taken after receiving the complaints about a large number of appointments made in defunct City Government/ KMC without fulfilling legal requirements. The initial report of the high powered probe committee consisting of senior officers showed the appointments of about 1,250 teaching and non-teaching staff made in the Education Department during last one and a half year.
The authority sent the list of these employees to the concerned department for submission of their service books and personal files so that the legitimacy of these appointments could be ascertained but no such record has been received even after four days. He also hinted the possible involvement of various departments including Local Fund Audit and some of the officers of concerned bank and other officials in it. Administrator Karachi said that all these officers/officials will have to face criminal cases against them for indulging in this unlawful act.
