At least three persons including activist of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and a cop were fallen prey to targeted killing spree in separate incidents at various parts of the metropolis on Tuesday. According to police sources, an activist of PPP, who was also under training cop, was shot dead at Nayaabad Lyari in the limits of Kalri police station.
The incident took place at street no 2, Nayaabad where 26-year-old Babar Sheikh son of Lal Hashim Sheikh was assaulted when he was on the way to home. Resultantly he received fatal bullet wounds and died on the spot. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities. SHO Asif Munawar said the victim was an active worker of PPP and trainee police officer.
He suspected that he might have been murdered over personal enmity. Later police handed over his body to his heirs. No case was registered till filing of this report. In another incident, a Sub Inspector (SI) was gunned down at Baloch Goth near Shahzad Cinema in the precincts of Orangi Town police station. The incident took place near Shahzad Cinema Baloch Goth Orangi Town, where SI Aleem Shah, 55 son of Mushtaq Shah was targeted when he was busy in buying grocery. He received bullet injuries and succumbed to his injures on the spot. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico legal formalities. SHO Asif Rauf said the victim was the resident of Baloch Goth Orangi Town. He was murdered over personal ground. He said the victim was the father of seven and hailed from Swat. No case was registered till filing of this report.
A bullet-riddled body of youth was found from Naddi in Samoo Goth in the limits of Memon Goth police station. The victim was later identified as 24-year-old Mohammad Tahir alias Waqas son of Mohammad Tariq, a resident of Bagh-e-Malir Al Noor Society Al Falah. Police shifted his body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico legal formalities. Police said the victim received four bullets and had several torture marks on his body. Police registered FIR no 166/11 against unidentified men on the complaint of victim's father Tariq.
